After giving my boys a short reminder lesson in archery it became quite apparent that my fingertips have gotten rather soft with all this gardening. Before too long we ALL had sore fingers and had to give it up for the day. Maybe I'm 'cheap' or maybe just 'thrifty' ... really, I'm just too broke to rush out and buy a factory made version. However you look at it, now that I've made this one the only way I'm replacing it is with a nicer, harder wood. Maple ... Walnut ... we shall see.
Anyway, here's how I made this little wooden archers release based on a video I saw from BackyardBowyer. He does some awesome work with PVC to make great bows, well worth checking out his channel. So ... his was made out of PVC but I decided to go with wood for mine. I drew a quick plan, glued it onto some plywood to make a template, cut it out on the scroll saw and gave it a go. If you don't have a scroll saw, one of those little hand held jig saws would probably work just fine. The pattern tested well, so I made one from a solid piece of board I had in the back yard, tapered it on the ends and sanded the bugger out of it to make it fit comfortably in my hand. Very simple.
Hope you enjoy & thanks for watching!
