In this video, I explain the material choices I made for my 1000W induction solder pot. I used a steel conduit coupler with a steel plug wrapped with aerogel infused fiberglass exhaust wrap. I made the working coil with litz wire and secured it in place with kapton tape. I will be making different attachments for it with different purposes such as a flat pancake coil for heating liquids. The smoke in the video is mostly the flux burning off from the rosin core of the solder I dropped in. This smoke isn't there when using a solder bar to refill the pot. Wires need to be prepped with flux before tinning them. Solder pots are used when you need to tin a lot of wires quickly.
